Dr. Nicky Mohan, the
eldest daughter of Mr. K.K. Mohan and Mrs. Ponnamma Mohan, has been married to Dr. Vishnu
in a glittering wedding ceremony held at Pandalam, Kearla on November 07, 2011.
Mr. Mohan is our family member and a dedicated member of Saradhi Kuwait who have served our association at various levels including as our former unit secretary.In the holy-name of Gurudevan we congratulate Dr. Nicky Mohan and Dr. Vishnu . We Wish the couple all happiness, peace and success in the world..!

Congratulations MINU for securing 6TH RANK in MA final examinations
Many CONGRATULATIONS to MINU MOHANDAS for securing 6TH RANK in MA final examinations conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
Minu is the eldest daughter of Mr. Mohandas K.R, our unit member and former treasurer of Saradhi Kuwait.

PICNIC-2011 :- REPORT & PHOTOS
The PICNIC-2011 was organized by the Hawalli Unit of Saradhi-Kuwait at Al-Mulla Park, Kuwait City on May 06, 2011 for all its members, their families and children. For all the early-birds, we have arranged breakfast at the Park. Picnic commenced with rendition of Daivadashakam. Unit Convener Mr. Ramdas welcomed the gathering. Respectful tributes were paid to the departed soul of Sri Satya Sai Baba by observing one minute silent prayer. The General Secretary of Saradhi-Kuwait Mr. Deepak Sadanandan flagged off the PICNIC-2011.
Morning session of the PICNIC-2011 was started off with two Topic-Presentations. Mrs. Rema Vidyadharan presented an insightful topic on Guru. Followed to this,was a very relevant medical subject on 'Diabetic-causes and care' by Mrs. Dr. Sheena Lalu. Both the subjects were mind-blowing and very informative for all. We congratulate both of our beloved members and putting on record our sincere gratitude and appreciation for their kindness for considering our request for the topic-presentations.
Aimed at moulding our youngsters and to contribute what all little for their personality development, we have organized group-wise elocution competitions on various subjects (viz., Should India Ban Endosulfan Completely-for class 8-10, All that glitters is not gold-for class 3 to 7 and My grandparents for LKG to Class 2). We made it compulsory participation for all Padashala students. The involvement of all the children were tremendous and they all made a commendable effort and some of them were truly outstanding.
For the little ones, we have organized Memory Contest. Kids enthusiastically participated in the contest. There came the games and fun-fillers for the ladies and gents and Mr. Nithin Ashok was the man of the hour. As expected, he had all the new varieties stored in his kitty. To mention quite a few, it consisted of 'Don't Mess With Me, Pick the Chickpea for ladies and gents, Lemon and Spoon, Spot Questions and Answers etc. We thank Mr. Nithin for the excellent conduct of various games and for playing a pivotal role for the success of the PICNIC-2011. Mr. Sajeev also taken his due part to stage some interesting items for the picnickers.
A sumptuous lunch and payasam were arranged for all, for a meager cost of KD 1. A quizzing session covering a wide range of topics including ideals and preaching of Guru, current affairs, science, general knowledge, politics etc were conducted for all including children. Mr. Adv. Sasidharapanikker and Mr. Sajeev then led the Adyakshari for the amusement of all.
At the fag end of the PICNIC-2011, 'vadamvali' were held for both gents and children. To pull the curtains down of an interesting day that too under the scorching sun, Raffle-draw were called in with 1st prize (Nokia C-3 Mobile with Wataniya line) sponsored by Mr. S. Chandran, 2nd prize (Vacuum Cleaner) sponsored by Mr. Adv. Mahendrakumar. Mr. Sajeev and Mr. Rajumon were the lucky winners of the raffle-draw.
Winners of all the events and games were awarded with suitable prizes. The winners were:- Elocution (Group A) - Jithin, (Group B)- Jyothy. Memory contest-Nischal, 'Don't Mess With Me'-Alwin Vidyadharan, 'Pick the Chickpea' for ladies-Nisha Anoop, 'Pick the Chickpea' for gents -Mahendrakumar, Quiz-Alwin Vidyadharan, Lemon and Spoon-Mrs Sandhya Mahendrakumar. Prizes were given away to all the children in Group C in elocution competition viz., Rishi Anoop, Keerthana and Sradha. Unit Secretary Mr. P.G. Rajendran tendered vote of thanks and the PICNIC-2011 has concluded with reciting Poornnamatha.
In fact the PICNIC-2011, in the present structure was an experiment. From all the feedbacks we understand that it was a resounding success. We now record our sincere gratitude and appreciation to one and all, more particularly, Mr. Chandran, Mr. Adv. Mahendrakumar, Mr. Adv. N.S. Aravindakshan, Mr. Balram and Mr. Adv. Sasidhara Panicker who have lent unflinching support by contributing all the essentialities that really help made this PICNIC-2011 an ever memorable one. We are also thankful to Mr. K.K. Mohan, Mr. Deepu and Mr. Vasudevan for the all the help, cooperation and guidance.

SARGASAMGAMAM-2010
The Women's Wing of Saradhi-Kuwait had organized SARGASAMGAMAM-2010, a cultural event of Saradhi-women folk and children, on January 21, 2011 at Indian Central School, Abbasiya, Kuwait.
SARGASAMGAMAM-2010 was co-inaugurated by the President of Saradhi-Kuwait Mr. N. Sasidharan, General Secretary, Mr. Deepak, Women's Wing Chairperson Mrs. Rathi Dinesh, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Santhamma, Secretary Mrs. Sujay Radhakrishnan.
With quality programmes and rich caliber, the SARGASAMGAMAM-2010 amply portrayed the cultural prowess of women-members and children in Saradhi-Kuwait.
We congratulate all the participants who have performed in SARGASAMGAMAM-2010.
We also congratulate the SARGASAMGAMAM coordinators Mr. Mohan and Mr. Jithesh and all those who put their best right from Help Desk, Registration Counter, Food Corner, to Back Stage.

ആറാട്ടുപുഴ വേലായുധപ്പണിക്കര്: ഒരിക്കലും അണയാത്ത ജ്വാല
In memoriam of the great legendary hero ARATTUPUZHA VELAYUDHA PANICKER, we publish an article written by Jijo John and published in the Sunday-supplement of Malayala Manorama of February 14, 2004.

ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ പുറംപോക്കില് കാലം ആറാട്ടുപുഴ വേലായുധ പണിക്കരെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരു ജനിക്കുന്നതിനും മൂന്നു വര്ഷം മുന്പ് മംഗലം ഇടയ്ക്കാട് ജ്ഞ്ഞാനേശ്വരം ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് പണിക്കര് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചത് ഈഴവശിവനെ.

നൂറ്റിമുപ്പത് വര്ഷം മുന്പ് കായംകുളം കായലിലെ തണ്ടുവള്ളത്തില് ഉറങ്ങികിടന്ന പണിക്കരുടെ നെഞ്ചില് കഠാരയിറക്കി കായലില് ചാടിയ 'തൊപ്പിയിട്ട കിട്ടന്' ഇന്നും പിടികിട്ടാപുള്ളി.
ഗുരുദേവന്റെ ജനനത്തിന് മുപ്പത്തിയൊന്നു വര്ഷം മുന്പാണ് വേലായുധപണിക്കര് ജനിച്ചത്.
കായംകുളത്ത് വാരണപ്പള്ളിയില് കുമ്മമ്പള്ളില് ആശാന്റെയടുത്തു ഗുരുദേവന് പഠിക്കുമ്പോള് മംഗലം സന്ദര്ശിച്ചെങ്കിലും വേലായുധ പണിക്കരെ കാണാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെന്നാണു പഴമക്കാരുടെ കേട്ടറിവ്.
അവര്ണര്ക്കുവേണ്ടി കായംകുളത്തിനു സമീപം മംഗലത്തു ശിവക്ഷേത്രം നിര്മ്മിക്കാന് ശിലയിട്ടത് ഒരു ശിവരാത്രിയില്.
ബ്രാഹ്മണ വേഷത്തില് വൈക്കത്തെത്തിയ വേലായുധപണിക്കര് വൈക്കത്തപ്പന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഏറെക്കാലം താമസിച്ചാണു താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കര്ക്കു നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രനിര്മ്മാണവും ആചാരങ്ങളും പഠിച്ച്ത്. ഒടുവില് നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങും മുന്പു ക്ഷേത്ര അധികാരിയോടു പണിക്കര് ചോദിച്ചു: "അയിത്തക്കാരന് ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് താമസിച്ചു പൂജാവിധിപഠിച്ചാല് അങ്ങ് എന്തുചെയ്യും?"
പരിഹാരം പറഞ്ഞ ക്ഷേത്രാധികാരിക്ക് നൂറു രൂപയും സ്വര്ണ്ണവും കൊടുത്തു വേണ്ടതു ചെയ്തോളാന് പറഞ്ഞ് പണിക്കര് ക്ഷേത്ര നിര്മ്മാണത്തിനായി മംഗലത്തേക്കു തിരിച്ചു !! ഓര്മ്മിക്കണം സംഭവം നടന്ന 1853ലെ നൂറുരൂപയുടെ വില. മുന്നൂറു മുറി പുരയിടവും പതിനാലായിരം ചുവടു തെങ്ങും വാണിജ്യത്തിനു പായ്ക്കപ്പലുകളും മൂവായിരത്തിലധികം പറ നെല്പ്പാടവും സ്വന്തമായുള്ള ധനിക കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഭാരിച്ച സ്വത്തിന്റെ അവകാശിയായിരുന്നു പണിക്കര്; അതും പതിനാറാമത്തെ വയസ്സില്. ഇന്ന് ഈ സ്ഥലമെല്ലാം കടലെടുത്തു.
വഴിയൊന്നാണെങ്കിലും ഗുരുദേവന്റെ മുന്ഗാമിയായ പണിക്കര് ഒരു സന്യാസിയായിരുന്നില്ല. പോരാളിയെപ്പോലെ തന്റെടിയായിരുന്നു. ചെറുപ്പത്തിലേ ആയോധന വിദ്യയും കുതിര സവാരിയും വ്യാകരണവും പഠിച്ചു. ആറേഴു കുതിരകള്, രണ്ട് ആന, ബോട്ട്, ഓടിവള്ളം, പല്ലക്ക്, തണ്ട് എന്നിവയാണു പണിക്കരുടെ സ്വന്തം വാഹനങ്ങള് .
മംഗലത്തു ശിവപ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയ വേലായുധ പണിക്കരെപ്പറ്റി മേല്ജാതിക്കാര് ചെമ്പകശ്ശേരി രാജാവിനോടു പരാതിപറഞ്ഞു.വിവരം തിരക്കിയ രാജാവിനു മുന്നില് "ഞാന് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചത് ഈഴവ ശിവനെയാണെന്നു" മറുപടി നല്കി നെഞ്ചുവിരിച്ചുനിന്ന ആണായിരുന്നിട്ടും വേലായുധപണിക്കരെ ആരും അംഗീകരിച്ചില്ല.
എഴുതപ്പെട്ട രേഖകളിലൊന്നും പണിക്കരുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെപ്പറ്റി വ്യക്തമായി പരാമര്ശമില്ല.1825 ജനുവരി ഏഴിനു ജനിച്ച പണിക്കര്ക്ക് പതിമൂന്നാം നാള് മാതാവിനെ നഷ്ട്ടപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നീട് അമ്മയുടെ ബന്ധുക്കള്ക്കൊപ്പം വളര്ന്നു. ഇതിഹാസ തുല്യമായ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ നിഗൂഡമായ ബാല്യം!
1866 ല് കര്ഷക തൊഴിലാളികളെ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു വേലായുധ പണിക്കര് നടത്തിയ പണിമുടക്കാണു ചരിത്രത്തില് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ ആദ്യത്തെ കര്ഷക തൊഴിലാളി സമരം. എന്നിട്ടും ഇതുവരെ വേലായുധപണിക്കരെ ആരും സഖാവെ എന്നുവിളിച്ചില്ല.
ആദ്യത്തെ കര്ഷക തൊഴിലാളി സമരം
അന്ന് ഈഴവ സ്ത്രീകള് മുണ്ടുടുക്കുമ്പോള് മുട്ടിനു താഴെ തുണികിടക്കുന്നതു കുറ്റമായിരുന്നു. കായംകുളത്തിനു വടക്കു പത്തിയൂരില് വീതിയുള്ള കരയുള്ള മുണ്ട് ഇറക്കിയുടുത്തു വയല് വരമ്പിലൂടെ നീങ്ങിയ ഈഴവ സ്ത്രീയെ സവര്ണ പ്രമാണിമാര് അധിക്ഷേപിച്ചതു പണിക്കരെ ചൊടിപ്പിച്ചു. ജന്മികള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി കീഴാളരെ ഒരുമിപ്പിച്ചു കൂട്ടിയ വേലായുധപണിക്കര് കൃഷിപണിയും തേങ്ങാപണിയും ബഹിഷ്ക്കരിക്കാന് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. പണിമുടങ്ങിയതോടെ ജന്മിമാരുടെ സാമ്പത്തികനില പരുങ്ങലിലായി. തൊഴിലാളികള്ക്ക് അഷ്ടിക്കുള്ള വക പണിക്കര് സ്വന്തം ചെലവില് നല്കി. ദൂരെ നിന്ന് ജന്മികളെത്തിച്ച കൃഷിപ്പണിക്കാരെ കൊന്നുകളയുമെന്ന് പണിക്കര് പരസ്യപ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തി. സാക്ഷാല് അയ്യങ്കാളിക്ക് അന്നു മൂന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു പ്രായം. മുണ്ട് ഇറക്കിയുടുത്ത ഈഴവസ്ത്രീയെ പരിഹസിച്ച കരപ്രമാണിമാര് സമരം തീഷ്ണമായപ്പോള് പരസ്യമായി മാപ്പുപറഞ്ഞു. അവഹേളിക്കപ്പെട്ട സ്ത്രീക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തമായി മുണ്ടു വാങ്ങിക്കൊടുക്കാന് പണിക്കര് കല്പ്പിച്ചു. പ്രമാണിമാര് അനുസരിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ ചരിത്രത്തില് ആദ്യത്തെ കര്ഷകതിഴിലാളി സമരം പൂര്ണ്ണ വിജയം കണ്ടു. എന്നിട്ടും ചരിത്രം ഇതുവരെ പണിക്കരെ സഖാവേ എന്നുവിളിച്ചില്ല.
മൂക്കുത്തിവഴക്ക്
ഇതിനു ശേഷമാണു വേലായുധപണിക്കരുടെ മൂക്കുത്തിവഴക്ക്. കഥയിങ്ങനെയാണ്: അന്നു സ്വര്ണ്ണ മൂക്കുത്തിധരിക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിയിലെ സ്ത്രീകള്ക്കില്ലായിരുന്നു. പന്തളത്തിനടുത്തു മൂക്കുത്തി ധരിച്ചു വഴിനടന്ന പെണ്ണിന്റെ മൂക്കുത്തി പറിച്ചു ചോരചിന്തിയ വിവരമറിഞ്ഞ പണിക്കര് സ്വര്ണ്ണപണിക്കാരെ വിളിച്ച് ആയിരം മൂക്കുത്തി നിര്മ്മിക്കാന് നിര്ദ്ദേശിച്ചു.ഒരു കിഴി മൂക്കുത്തിയുമായി പന്തളത്തെത്തിയ പണിക്കര് വഴിയില് കണ്ട കിഴ്ജാതിക്കാരായ സ്ത്രീകളെയെല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി മൂക്കു കുത്തിച്ചു. സ്വര്ണ്ണ മൂക്കുത്തി അണിയിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു. ഇവരെ ആരും അപമാനിക്കാതിരിക്കാന് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം പണിക്കര് പന്തളത്തു തങ്ങി. കുതിരപ്പുറത്ത് ആയുധങ്ങളുമേന്തി റോന്തുചുറ്റുന്ന പണിക്കരുടെ മുന്നിലൂടെ നാട്ടിലെ പെണ്ണുങ്ങളെല്ലാം സ്വര്ണ്ണ മൂക്കുത്തിയിട്ടു സുന്ദരികളായി നടന്നു. പിന്നീടു നാട്ടിലൊരിടത്തും ഒരു പെണ്ണും മൂക്കു മുറിഞ്ഞു ചോരയൊലിപ്പിച്ചില്ല...
ഏത്താപ്പുസമരം
സമരം ചെയ്യാന് ഈ പണിക്കര് സംഭാവന പിരിച്ചില്ല. സ്വന്തം ചെലവിലായിരുന്നു പണിക്കരുടെ ലഹളകളെല്ലാം. മൂക്കുത്തി വഴക്കിന്റെ തുടര്ച്ചയായിരുന്നു 1859ലെ ഏത്താപ്പു സമരം. കായംകുളത്ത് അവര്ണസ്ത്രീ നാണം മറയ്ക്കാന് മാറില് ഏത്താപ്പിട്ടതു ചില പ്രമാണിമാര്ക്കു സഹിച്ചില്ല. പൊതുനിരത്തില് അവരുടെ മേല്മുണ്ടു വലിച്ചു കീറി മാറില് മച്ചിങ്ങത്തൊണ്ടു പിടിപ്പിച്ച് അവരെ പ്രമാണിമാര് കൂവിവിട്ടു. വിവരമറിഞ്ഞു കുറെ മേല്മുണ്ടുമായി പണിക്കര് തണ്ടുവച്ച വള്ളത്തില് കായം കുളത്തേക്കു കുതിച്ചു. അവിടത്തെ തൊഴിലാളി സ്ത്രീകള്ക്കിടയില് മേല്മുണ്ടു വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. നാട്ടിലെ പാവം പെണ്ണുങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ഈ തുണിയുടുപ്പു സമരവും പണിക്കര് ഒറ്റയ്ക്കുപൊരുതി ജയിച്ചു.
കഥകളിയോഗം
പണ്ട് ഈ നാട് സ്ത്രീകളോടു ചെയ്തതിനെല്ലാം ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഒറ്റയ്ക്കു പകരം ചോദിച്ചു....എന്നിട്ടും ഏതു സ്ത്രീയാണ് ഇന്നും പണിക്കരെ ഓര്മ്മിക്കുന്നത്. 1861ല് ഈഴവ സമുദായാംഗങ്ങളെ ചേര്ത്തു കഥകളിയോഗം സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാണ് വേലായുധപണിക്കരുടെ കലാവിപ്ലവം. പച്ചകുത്തി ദേവന്മാരുടെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും വേഷങ്ങളാടാന് അവര്ണര്ക്ക് അവകാശമില്ലെന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ച് ഗവണ്മെന്റില് പരാതികിട്ടിയപ്പോള് ദിവാന് ടി. മാധവറാവുവാണ് പണിക്കരെയും പരാതിക്കാരെയും വിളിച്ചു ചേര്ത്തത്. അന്നത്തെ വാദംകേട്ടു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെട്ട തീര്പ്പിലാണു താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കര്ക്കു കഥകളി പഠിച്ച് അവതരിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം നിയമംമൂലം പണിക്കര് സമ്പാദിച്ചത്. പിന്നീടു സ്വയം കഥകളി പഠിച്ച വേലായുധപണിക്കര് 1862ല് അരങ്ങേറി. അവര്ണ്ണരുടെ കഥകളിയോട് ഏറ്റവും എതിര്പ്പുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങള് തിരഞ്ഞുപിടിച്ചു കഥകളി അവതരിപ്പിക്കാനായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു താല്പര്യം... എന്നിട്ടും ആരും വേലായുധപണിക്കരുടെ പേരില് കഥകളി പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള് ഏര്പ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല.
പത്മനാഭസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കു തരണനല്ലൂര് നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടു കൊണ്ടുപോയ സാളഗ്രാമം കായംകുളം കായലില് കൊള്ളക്കാര് അപഫരിച്ചു. സാളഗ്രാമം തിരികെ വാങ്ങി നല്കാനുള്ള തിരുവിതാംകൂര് മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ അഭ്യര്ഥന സ്വീകരിച്ച വേലായുധപണിക്കര് കയ്യൂക്കുകൊണ്ടു കാര്യം സാധിച്ച് രണ്ടു കൈയ്യിലും രാജാവിന്റെ വീരശൃഖലനേടി. പേരിനൊപ്പമുള്ള 'പണിക്കര്' സ്ഥാനം അടുത്ത തലമുറയ്ക്കു സ്ഥിരപ്പെട്ടതും ഇതിനുശേഷം. എന്നിട്ടും കായംകുളം കൊച്ചുണ്ണിയോട് കാണിച്ച നീതിപോലും ചരിത്രം ആറാട്ടുപുഴയിലെ പണിക്കരോടു കാട്ടിയില്ല.
മാംബുഴക്കരിക്കാരന് കരപ്രമാണി
കീഴാളരുടെ വീട്ടില് പശു പെറ്റാല് കിങ്കരന്മാരെ വിട്ടു പശുവിനേയും കിടാവിനേയും സ്വന്തമാക്കി ഒടുവില് പശുവിന്റെ കറവ വറ്റുമ്പോള് മാത്രം തിരികെ നല്കുന്ന മാംബുഴക്കരിക്കാരന് കരപ്രമാണിയെ, വാളുമായിചെന്ന പണിക്കര് ഒതുക്കിയത് മറ്റൊരു കഥ.
ഇരുപതാമത്തെ വയസ്സില് പുതുപ്പള്ളി വാരണപ്പള്ളി സ്വദേശിനി വെളുമ്പിയെ പണിക്കര് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. ഇവര്ക്ക് ഏഴ് ആണ്മക്കളാണ്. അക്കാലത്ത് ഉന്നതകുലജാതര് പേരിനൊപ്പം 'കുഞ്ഞ്' എന്നു ചേര്ത്തിരുന്നു. പണിക്കര് സ്വന്തം മക്കള്ക്കു പേരിട്ടു: കുഞ്ഞയ്യന്, കുഞ്ഞുപണിക്കര്, കുഞ്ഞന്, കുഞ്ഞുപിള്ള, കുഞ്ഞുകുഞ്ഞ്, വെളുത്തകുഞ്ഞ്, കുഞ്ഞുകൃഷ്ണന്. സ്വന്തം സഹോദരിയെ അന്യസമുദായക്കാരനു വിവാഹം ചെയ്തുകൊടുത്തു മിശ്രവിവാഹത്തിനു വിത്തിട്ടതും പണിക്കരാണെന്നു കേള്വി.
സഞ്ചാരസ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം
'ഹോയ്' വിളിച്ച് അവര്ണരെ തീണ്ടാപ്പാടകലെ നിര്ത്തിയിരുന്ന കാലം. ഒരു ദിവസം പണിക്കരും പരിവാരങ്ങളും വയല് വരംബിലൂടെ നടക്കുമ്പോള് മറുവശത്തു നിന്നു 'ഹോയ്' വിളി. ഇടപ്പള്ളി രാജാവിന്റെ മകന് രാമന് മേനോന്റെ എഴുന്നള്ളിത്താണ്. അതിനേക്കാള് ഉച്ചത്തില് ഹോയ് എന്നു തിരികെ വിളിക്കാന് പണിക്കര് കൂട്ടാളികളോടു നിര്ദേശിച്ചു. 'ധിക്കാരി'യായ പണിക്കരുടെ കാലു തല്ലി ഒടിക്കാന് രാജകുമാരന്റെ കല്പ്പന. രാജകുമാരനും കൂട്ടരും അടികൊണ്ട് ഓടി.... സംഭവം കേസായെങ്കിലും അവര്ണര്ക്ക് സഞ്ചാര സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം നല്കിക്കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു കേസിന്റെ തീര്പ്പ്. പിന്നീടു കീഴാളരാരും 'ഹോയ്' വിളി കേട്ട് ഓടിമാറേണ്ടി വന്നില്ല.
മറ്റൊരു കേസിന്റെ ആവശ്യത്തിനായി കൊല്ലത്തുനിന്നും തണ്ടുവള്ളത്തില് കായംകുളംകായല് കടക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് വേലായുധപ്പണിക്കര് കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. 1874 ജനുവരി മൂന്നിനു പാതിരാത്രി കായല് നടുക്ക് തണ്ടുവള്ളത്തില് പണിക്കര് നല്ല ഉറക്കമായിരുന്നു. ഒരു കോവുവള്ളത്തിലെത്തിയ അക്രമിസംഘം പണിക്കരെ അടിയന്തിരമായി കാണണമെന്നു തണ്ടുവലിക്കാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു. വള്ളത്തില് കയറിയ അക്രമികളുടെ നേതാവു 'തൊപ്പിയിട്ട കിട്ടന്' ഉറങ്ങിക്കിടന്ന പണിക്കരെ ചതിയില് കുത്തിവീഴ്ത്തി.നെഞ്ചില് തറഞ്ഞ കഠാരയുമായി എഴുന്നേറ്റ ആറാട്ടുപുഴ വേലായുധപണിക്കരെ കണ്ടു ഭയന്ന കിട്ടനും കൂട്ടരും കായലില് ചാടി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. ഇവര് പിന്നീടു കപ്പലില് രാജ്യം കടന്നതായാണു കേട്ടുകേള്വി. കൊല്ലം ഡിവിഷന് പേഷ്കാര് രാമന് നായര് കേസു വിചാരണ നടത്തിയെങ്കിലും തെളിവില്ലാത്തതിനാല് ആരേയും ശിക്ഷിക്കാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.... എന്നിട്ടും പണിക്കരെ ആരും രക്തസാക്ഷിയാക്കിയില്ല. സ്മാരകങ്ങള് ഉയര്ന്നില്ല.
ഐതിഹ്യത്തോളമെത്തിയ ഈ ജീവിതത്തെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത് ഒരാള് മാത്രം-- ശ്രീനാരായണഗുരു.
സഹപാഠിയുടെ പിതാവായ പണിക്കരെ കാണാന് ഗുരു മംഗലത്ത് എത്തിയ ദിവസങ്ങളില് പണിക്കര് മറ്റെവിടെയോ ജാതിപ്പിശാചിനോടു പോരാടുകയായിരുന്നു.

ആറാട്ടുപുഴ വേലായുധപ്പണിക്കരുടെ 137-മത് രക്തസാക്ഷി വാര്ഷികം, സാരഥി കുവൈറ്റിന്റെ ഫാഹേല് യൂണിറ്റ് 2011 ജനുവരി 13ല് ആചരിച്ചു. വേലായുധപണിക്കരുടെ ഫോട്ടോയ്ക്ക് മുന്പില് നിലവിളക്ക് തെളിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സാരഥി കുവൈറ്റ് ഉപാധ്യക്ഷന് ശ്രീ.സുരേഷ് ആദരാഞ്ജലികളര്പ്പിച്ചു. വര്ഷങ്ങള്ക്ക് മുന്പുതന്നെ അടിച്ചമര്ത്തപ്പെട്ട ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ അവകാശങ്ങള്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ധീരോദാത്തമായി പോരാടിയ കര്മ്മയോഗിയാണ് ആറാട്ടുപുഴ പണിക്കര് എന്ന് ശ്രീ. സുരേഷ് പറഞ്ഞു. തുടര്ന്ന് അജി, വിനോദ്കുമാര്, രാജേഷ് സാഗര്, വി. കെ . പ്രേംസന് എന്നിവര് സംസാരിച്ചു.

Prizes given away to the PADASHALA students
Since commencement on October 30, 2009, the PADASHALA has now treading on its second year. The students in PADASHALA have got remarkable improvement, be it Malayalam language learning, knowing Gurudevan, learning the ideals and literary works of Gurudevan, religious education like learning Ramayanam, religious fundamentals etc as per the PADASHALA curriculum.
The students who have got maximum attendance in the past one year term of PADASHALA have been awarded with suitable prizes on December 31, 2010. Hawalli Unit Convener Mr. N. Sashidharan was the Chief Guest. He has given away the prizes to Alwin Vidyadharan, Ayush Vidyadharan, Jithin, Praveen, Sudhin and Rishi Anoop, who were the students with highest attendance.
All other students were also given complimentary gifts for their enthusiastic attendance in PADASHALA classes and learning.
